Policy Rates and Liquidity
The RBI reported weighted average rates for the overnight segment at 4.89% with a range of 2.00‑5.30%. Call Money volume was 12,438.55 crore at 5.05% (range 4.50‑5.15%). Triparty Repo volume stood at 5,44,235.75 crore at 4.95% (range 4.60‑5.05%). Market Repo volume was 1,69,516.00 crore at 4.67% (range 2.00‑5.30%). Repo in Corporate Bond volume was 6,750.10 crore at 5.08% (range 5.00‑5.20%).
In the term segment, Notice Money volume was 160.50 crore at 5.01% (range 4.82‑5.10%). Term Money volume was 297.00 crore; rate not disclosed. Triparty Repo volume was 4,805.00 crore at 5.00% (range 4.75‑5.25%). Market Repo volume was 1,164.01 crore at 5.40% (range 5.10‑5.55%). No Repo in Corporate Bond activity was recorded.
Today's liquidity operations included a reverse repo of 2,39,959.00 crore at 5.24% for a one‑day tenor, a Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) of 136.00 crore at 5.50%, and a Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) of 1,61,511.00 crore at 5.00%. Net liquidity injected from today's operations was a withdrawal of 4,01,334.00 crore.
Outstanding reverse repo operations comprised 55,449.00 crore (tenor 26 days) and 2,40,776.00 crore (tenor 30 days), both at 5.24%. Net liquidity absorbed from outstanding operations was 2,92,640.89 crore. Combining today’s and outstanding figures, total net liquidity injected (absorption) amounted to 6,93,974.89 crore. The Standing Liquidity Facility availed from the RBI was 3,584.11 crore.
Banking and Credit
Cash reserves of scheduled commercial banks as of 17 September 2026 were ₹8,34,678.09 crore. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending 30 September 2026 was ₹8,21,989.00 crore.
Capital Markets and Flows
The overnight segment recorded a total volume of 7,32,940.40 crore. Detailed breakdowns are as follows: Call Money 12,438.55 crore at 5.05%; Triparty Repo 5,44,235.75 crore at 4.95%; Market Repo 1,69,516.00 crore at 4.67%; Repo in Corporate Bond 6,750.10 crore at 5.08%.
The term segment showed Notice Money 160.50 crore at 5.01%, Term Money 297.00 crore (rate not disclosed), Triparty Repo 4,805.00 crore at 5.00%, Market Repo 1,164.01 crore at 5.40%, and no activity in Repo in Corporate Bond.
Government Liquidity Position
The Government of India’s surplus cash balance for auction as on 17 September 2026 was zero. Net durable liquidity surplus as on 31 August 2026 stood at ₹10,66,303.00 crore.
Overall, the RBI’s money market operations on 17 September 2026 reflected substantial liquidity absorption across reverse repo, MSF and SDF facilities, while maintaining stable weighted average rates across various money‑market instruments and a robust cash reserve position for scheduled banks.
