Policy Rates and Liquidity
The RBI conducted a one‑day repo operation on 29 July 2026 amounting to ₹50,020.00 crore at a rate of 5.26 %. On the same day the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) was utilised for ₹95.00 crore at 5.50 % and the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) absorbed ₹1,92,111.00 crore at 5.00 %. Net liquidity injected from today’s operations was a deficit of ₹1,41,996.00 crore, indicating overall liquidity absorption. Outstanding operations include a three‑day repo of ₹12,720.00 crore at 5.26 % dated 27 July 2026, contributing a net injection of ₹25,699.66 crore. Including both today’s and outstanding operations, total net liquidity injected was a deficit of ₹1,16,296.34 crore. The Standing Liquidity Facility (SLF) availed from the RBI stood at ₹12,979.66 crore.
Banking and Credit
Cash reserves of scheduled commercial banks with the RBI were ₹7,91,049.38 crore as of 29 July 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending 31 July 2026 was ₹8,15,720.00 crore. The Government of India’s surplus cash balance available for auction on 29 July 2026 was ₹50,020.00 crore. Net durable liquidity, reflecting the overall surplus, was ₹4,99,485.00 crore as of 30 June 2026.
Overall, the RBI’s money market operations on 29 July 2026 showed substantial overnight market activity, a modest repo injection, and a net liquidity absorption, while scheduled banks maintained high cash reserve balances relative to the required average.
