Policy Rates and Liquidity
The RBI reported that net liquidity injected from today’s operations was a withdrawal of ₹4,27,594.00 crore. Today's reverse repo operation amounted to ₹2,55,827.00 crore at a rate of 5.49% for a one‑day tenor. The Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) was utilised for ₹500.00 crore at 5.75%, and the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) for ₹1,72,267.00 crore at 5.25%. Outstanding operations contributed a net liquidity injection of ₹4,113.18 crore, resulting in an overall net liquidity injection (including today’s operations) of a negative ₹4,23,480.82 crore, indicating absorption of funds.
Banking and Credit
Cash reserves of scheduled commercial banks were reported at ₹8,03,797.62 crore as of 07 October 2026. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending 15 October 2026 stood at ₹8,17,219.00 crore, reflecting the banks’ liquidity position.
Capital Markets and Flows
The overnight money market segment (I+II+III+IV) recorded a total volume of ₹7,06,316.72 crore with a weighted average rate of 5.33% (range 4.00‑5.70%). Breakdown: Call Money volume was ₹13,337.07 crore at 5.36% (range 4.75‑5.55%); Triparty Repo volume ₹5,05,051.35 crore at 5.32% (range 5.00‑5.46%); Market Repo volume ₹1,82,624.75 crore at 5.33% (range 4.00‑5.60%); Repo in Corporate Bond volume ₹5,303.55 crore at 5.50% (range 5.44‑5.70%).
The term segment showed Notice Money volume of ₹314.10 crore at 5.31% (range 5.00‑5.40%); Term Money volume of ₹662.50 crore with a rate range of 5.40‑6.00%; Triparty Repo volume of ₹20,505.00 crore at 5.45% (range 5.26‑5.50%); Market Repo volume of ₹2,396.52 crore at 5.42% (range 5.40‑5.50%); and Repo in Corporate Bond volume of ₹179.05 crore at a fixed rate of 7.10%.
The Government of India’s surplus cash balance for the auction was zero on 07 October 2026, while net durable liquidity showed a surplus of ₹13,93,819.00 crore as of 15 September 2026.
Financial Stability and Inclusion
The overall negative net liquidity injection of ₹4,23,480.82 crore indicates a tightening stance in the money market, absorbing excess liquidity from the system.
Regulatory and Policy Measures
The operations were conducted under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF), Marginal Standing Facility (MSF), and Standing Deposit Facility (SDF). The Standing Liquidity Facility (SLF) availed from RBI amounted to ₹4,113.18 crore. These measures reflect the RBI’s ongoing management of market liquidity and short‑term funding conditions.
