The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) conducted an underwriting auction on 21 August 2026 for Additional Competitive Underwriting (ACU) of two government securities. The securities underwritten were the 7.06% Government Security maturing in 2041 (GS 2041) with a notified amount of ₹17,000 crore, and the 7.43% Government Security maturing in 2076 (GS 2076) with a notified amount of ₹11,000 crore. For GS 2041, the minimum underwriting commitment (MUC) was set at ₹8,505 crore, and an additional competitive underwriting amount of ₹8,495 crore was accepted, bringing the total amount underwritten to the full ₹17,000 crore. For GS 2076, the MUC was ₹5,502 crore, with an additional competitive underwriting amount of ₹5,498 crore accepted, also resulting in the full ₹11,000 crore being underwritten.
Regulatory and Policy Measures
The RBI announced the ACU commission cut‑off rates applicable to Primary Dealers for the two securities. The cut‑off rate for the 7.06% GS 2041 was fixed at 0.59 paise per ₹100 of face value, while the cut‑off rate for the 7.43% GS 2076 was set at 0.88 paise per ₹100. These rates determine the maximum underwriting commission payable to Primary Dealers participating in the auction.
