Regulatory and Policy Measures

The Banking Laws (Amendment) Act, 2025 revised the definition of a fortnight from alternate Fridays to the 15th and last calendar day of each month, effective 15‑Dec‑2025. This change affects the reporting periods used in the statistical tables.

Overall, the bulletin highlights a modest contraction in state‑government borrowing, a slight dip in foreign exchange reserves and gold holdings, continued pressure on bank deposits and credit, and a net absorption of liquidity through RBI operations, all set against a backdrop of regulatory adjustments to reporting conventions.
