The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment organized a national-level SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir that reached 3,69,469 beneficiaries across 3,870 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Rural Local Bodies (RLBs) and line departments through hybrid participation. The program was conducted physically at participating locations to bring health, safety, welfare and social protection services directly to SafaiMitras and sanitation workers who regularly face occupational health hazards.

States including Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Bihar organized health camps across their major municipal corporations as part of the initiative. The Shivir facilitated 3,02,958 health check-ups, providing sanitation workers with access to essential health services. Additionally, 2,24,521 NAMASTE Cards were downloaded by beneficiaries while 57,967 Ayushman Cards were distributed to facilitate access to healthcare and social protection benefits.

The initiative also enabled 1,53,253 registrations under various government schemes, connecting beneficiaries with welfare and social security measures. In a significant step toward occupational safety, 1,28,928 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits were distributed among SafaiMitras across participating locations. The program was organized to recognize and honor the contribution of sanitation workers while facilitating their access to health, safety, welfare and social protection measures through a common platform that brought multiple services together at the local level.
