The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment announced that Hon'ble Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar will chair the 5th Meeting of the National Council for Senior Citizens (NCSrC) at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The meeting will be attended by representatives of Central Ministries, Departments, State Governments, Union Territories, oldest Members of Parliament, National Commissions, ageing experts, and representatives from Senior Citizens' Associations, Pensioners' Associations, and Non-Governmental Organizations working for senior citizen welfare.

The Council will deliberate on key issues concerning senior citizen welfare, with the aim of strengthening inter-ministerial convergence and reinforcing the government's commitment to ensuring dignity, security, participation, and well-being for senior citizens in line with the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision.

On this occasion, the Ministry will launch an e-book titled "SNEHA - Stories of Nurturing, Engagement, Happiness & Active Ageing" which showcases major events, initiatives, and achievements of the Senior Citizen Division from October 2024 to June 2026. The National Council for Senior Citizens was reconstituted through a Gazette Notification dated February 17, 2012, and serves as the apex advisory body of the Government of India on issues relating to the welfare, protection, and empowerment of senior citizens.
