The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment organized a Shramdaan (voluntary labor) cleanliness activity on October 1, 2026, at the Mahila Imdad Committee premises in Paharganj, New Delhi. The event was conducted under the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign following the theme "Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath" (One Day, One Hour, Together).
Shri B. L. Verma, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, actively participated and led the cleanliness activities at the premises. During the event, he briefed participants about the Swachh Bharat Mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2, 2014, and highlighted the achievements made under this national movement. Verma emphasized the importance of Jan Bhagidari (public participation) in sustaining the cleanliness movement and appealed to citizens to make cleanliness an integral part of their daily routine, calling for collective contribution toward maintaining clean homes, workplaces, and public spaces.
Officers from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) participated in the activity, undertaking collective cleanliness and sanitation activities at and around the premises. The event reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to the objectives of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 and the broader vision of Swachh Bharat (Clean India) and Viksit Bharat (Developed India). The initiative underscored the importance of collective participation in making cleanliness a sustained public movement.
