The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE), serving as the nodal agency for Drug Demand Reduction in India, has finalized three 60-second short films to create widespread public awareness about substance abuse and its harmful effects. This initiative falls under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) implemented by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, which aims to educate the public about the ill effects of substance abuse. The films specifically support the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) flagship campaign launched on August 15, 2020, with the goal of promoting a drug-free society.

The three short films address distinct themes: understanding early warning signs and behavioral changes associated with substance use including peer pressure; promoting the National De-addiction and Tele-counselling Helpline 14446; and highlighting the role of parents and teachers in early identification, prevention and treatment of substance use. The films are intended to strengthen awareness, encourage timely intervention, and promote collective action by families, educational institutions and communities against substance abuse.
