The Cabinet has approved the four-laning of two critical highway sections in northern Telangana with a total investment of ₹7,597.16 crore. The project covers 190.76 kilometers, comprising the Armoor-Jagtial-Mancherial section of NH-63 to be implemented under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) and the Jagtial-Karimnagar section of NH-563 to be developed on a Build-Operate-Transfer (Toll) basis.
This infrastructure development aims to address growing traffic pressure and support economic expansion across multiple districts including Nizamabad, Jagtial, Karimnagar, and Mancherial. The upgraded corridors will significantly improve connectivity to religious and heritage tourism destinations such as Vemulawada Temple, Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple, Dharmapuri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Kaleshwaram Temple, and Nagunur Fort, facilitating multi-destination pilgrimage circuits.
The project will enhance access to economic growth centers including fisheries and seafood clusters, Special Economic Zones in Siddipet and Warangal, and Mega Food Parks in Nizamabad and Siddipet. It will benefit agricultural transport for crops including paddy, maize, cotton, turmeric, and horticultural products by providing quicker access to consumption markets, mandis, warehouses, and processing centers.
The highway expansion is aligned with PM Gati Shakti and will strengthen connectivity with major national highways including NH-44, NH-363, and NH-163G. It will support regional travel and freight routes such as Nagpur-Hyderabad and Nagpur-Vijayawada connectivity. Upon completion, travel time between Armoor and Mancherial is expected to reduce by approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, while travel between Jagtial and Karimnagar will be shortened by around 45 minutes.
The project addresses current congestion issues in densely populated towns along the routes including Anksapoor, Korutla, Jagtial, Dharmapuri, Lakshettipet, Mancherial, Potharam, and Gangadhara, where increasing traffic volumes have created bottlenecks and longer journey times.
