PLI Scheme for Textiles Implementation Update
The Ministry of Textiles provided a comprehensive update on the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles as of August 4, 2026. The scheme has approved 170 companies for participation across three target segments: 43 companies in MMF Apparel, 38 companies in MMF Fabric, and 89 companies in Technical Textiles.
Scheme Performance Metrics
As of March 31, 2026, the scheme has achieved significant performance metrics with total investment reaching ₹8,117.64 crores, generating turnover of ₹11,241 crore, and creating employment for 33,427 people. The scheme covers 225 notified products across the three segments, each with detailed HSN classifications and product descriptions.
Monitoring and Governance Framework
The PLI Scheme undergoes regular monitoring and review at the level of Ministry of Textiles and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), which serves as the nodal department for all PLI Schemes. A Project Management Agency (PMA) has been engaged for rigorous ground-level verification, and a dedicated PLI portal has been created to serve as a centralized repository for scheme-related data and performance metrics. Additionally, the scheme is integrated with the Output-Outcome Monitoring Framework of NITI Aayog for regular progress assessment.
Product Coverage Details
The scheme covers extensive product categories including 58 MMF Apparel items ranging from jerseys, pullovers, and trousers to specialized sports garments and swimwear; 51 MMF Fabric products including various woven fabrics of polyester, nylon, and other synthetic fibres; and 116 Technical Textiles products spanning geotextiles, medical textiles (surgical dressings, diapers, sanitary napkins), protective textiles (bullet proof jackets, military clothing), industrial textiles (automobile tyre cords, air filters), sports textiles (parachute fabrics, protective equipment), and advanced technical textiles (carbon fibre, aramids, glass fibres, composites).
