Textiles PLI Scheme Implementation Update

The Ministry of Textiles has reported significant progress under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for textiles as of March 31, 2026. A total of 170 companies have been approved under the scheme, which has generated cumulative investments of ₹8,117.64 crores and created 33,427 new jobs across participating states.

The state-wise distribution shows considerable variation in both investment and employment generation. Gujarat leads in number of participating companies (46) and investment value (₹1,903.38 crores), while Tamil Nadu has generated the highest employment with 7,930 jobs from 17 companies and ₹1,277.16 crores investment. Karnataka follows with substantial investment of ₹1,515.99 crores from 6 companies, creating 5,611 jobs.

Several states show minimal or no investment activity despite company approvals. Uttar Pradesh reported only ₹4.63 crores investment from 15 companies with no employment data, while Punjab, West Bengal, and Odisha show zero investment and employment from their approved companies. Madhya Pradesh demonstrates strong employment generation with 4,970 jobs from 22 companies despite moderate investment of ₹658.45 crores.

The data reveals concentrated investment patterns with top states (Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Goa) accounting for the majority of capital deployment. Goa shows particularly high investment per company with ₹1,355.87 crores from just one company, generating 692 jobs. Bihar also shows notable employment generation with 3,465 jobs from 2 companies with ₹237.28 crores investment.
