TRIFED Procurement and Sales Performance under PMJVM Scheme

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, through Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED), implements the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission (PMJVM) scheme for livelihood generation of tribal beneficiaries across India. TRIFED engages in marketing development of tribal products including handicraft, handloom, natural and food products through identification and empanelment of tribal artisans, with products sold through 115 Tribes India Outlets, exhibitions, and E-Commerce platforms.

Financial Performance Trends

Procurement values have shown a declining trend from ₹2,900.33 lakh in 2021-22 to ₹1,693.70 lakh in 2025-26, while sales have remained relatively stable between ₹3,386.92 lakh and ₹4,342.32 lakh during the same period. The sales peak was recorded in 2021-22 at ₹4,342.32 lakh, with the latest year 2025-26 showing sales of ₹3,775.88 lakh against procurement of ₹1,693.70 lakh.

Inventory Status and Aging Analysis

As of July 2, 2026, TRIFED holds unsold inventory worth ₹5,944.57 lakh, with significant aging concerns. Half of the inventory (50.03% or ₹2,973.85 lakh) is more than three years old, while 9.64% (₹573.11 lakh) is three years old, 13.39% (₹795.83 lakh) is two years old, and 26.95% (₹1,601.79 lakh) is less than one year old.

Regional Inventory Distribution

Madhya Pradesh has the highest unsold inventory at ₹975.30 lakh, followed by Chhattisgarh (₹616.95 lakh) and Delhi NCR (₹526.14 lakh). The North East region holds ₹337.05 lakh in unsold stock, while Gujarat has ₹251.61 lakh and Odisha ₹250.31 lakh. The regional breakdown shows varied inventory levels across 14 regional offices dating back to 2013.

Intervention Strategies

TRIFED's interventions include value addition of Minor Forest Produce (MFP) through processing, packaging and branding, along with marketing support to strengthen market linkages, improve price realization, and prevent distress sale by tribal gatherers.
