US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping began a summit in Beijing, the first U.S. state visit in a decade.
Xi urged that the two nations be “partners, not rivals,” aiming to make 2026 a historic year of renewal in U.S.-China ties.
Trump praised Xi as a great leader, saying relations will be “better than ever” and hinted at loosening U.S. chip export restrictions.
The summit also expects talks on Taiwan, U.S. arms sales, and the Iran‑related oil disruption affecting Asian markets.
