Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani addressed the 20th Rozgar Mela in Chennai, where more than 51,000 candidates received government appointment letters across the country. This edition marks a significant milestone with approximately 12.75 lakh young people having received appointment letters through the nationwide Rozgar Mela initiative since its inception.
Dr. Pemmasani highlighted India's economic transformation since 2014, specifically noting the expansion of mobile manufacturing from just 2 units in 2014-15 to around 300 units currently. He also emphasized substantial growth in defence exports, which have increased from approximately ₹600 crore in 2013-14 to around ₹30,000 crore in 2025-26. The minister pointed to significant infrastructure developments including expansion of the national highway network, rapid railway electrification progress, and improvements through Vande Bharat trains and railway station redevelopment.
The minister encouraged new recruits to approach public service with integrity, empathy, and commitment to continuous learning, urging them to identify citizen challenges and explore solutions through technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He emphasized that employees should not allow routine administrative work to diminish their sense of purpose, reminding them that for citizens, each file represents important aspects of their lives. Dr. Pemmasani concluded by outlining three guiding principles for the recruits: remember the citizen, their families, and their younger selves throughout their careers.
