Union Minister of State for Ayush and Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, has formally requested the Government of India to issue a ₹150 commemorative coin and commemorative postage stamp to mark the 150th Prakat Din of Sant Gajanan Maharaj. The minister sent separate letters to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, urging their respective ministries to consider this proposal for national recognition.
Sant Gajanan Maharaj first appeared in Shegaon, Buldhana district, Maharashtra in February 1878, and the location has since developed into a major pilgrimage center attracting devotees from across India and abroad. The minister highlighted the saint's enduring spiritual and cultural significance, noting that his teachings of spirituality, devotion, compassion, and selfless service continue to inspire generations through the religious text Shri Gajanan Vijay.
The document also references the significant social contributions of Shri Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan, Shegaon, in education, healthcare, rural development, and social welfare services. Additionally, it mentions the President of India's visit to Shegaon on February 25, 2026, to inaugurate the National Arogya Fair under the Ministry of Ayush, further underscoring the location's importance. The 150th Prakat Din will be observed on February 17, 2028, representing an important spiritual and cultural occasion for millions of devotees nationwide.
