Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with Union Minister Shri Kiren Rijiju and Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu, conducted extensive aerial and ground inspections of flood-affected areas in Arunachal Pradesh on July 1, 2026. The ministerial team performed aerial surveys of Keyi Panyor district and traveled by road to directly interact with affected residents to assess the damage firsthand.

The government announced a comprehensive assessment of flood damages covering homes, agricultural fields, crops, and livestock losses, with assurance of full compensation to all eligible families. Immediate relief in the form of food grains and essential supplies is already being provided to affected families. The response operation is being conducted on two fronts: immediate relief supply distribution and detailed assessment for long-term rehabilitation planning.

Infrastructure including roads, bridges, electricity infrastructure, and communication networks has been severely affected in several areas. The Chief Minister has submitted a preliminary report, with a detailed assessment report to follow for central government assistance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed that every possible assistance be extended to affected people, with close coordination between central and state governments.

Following the field visit, Shri Chouhan chaired a high-level review meeting in Itanagar with the Chief Minister, Union Minister, and senior officials to review relief and rehabilitation efforts. The meeting issued directions to ensure prompt assistance reaches every affected family, expedite damage assessment, and accelerate rehabilitation measures. The government emphasized there should be no laxity at any level in relief operations.
