U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer confirmed President Trump will raise EU car import tariffs to 25%, up from 15%.
The increase is presented as a response to the EU’s alleged non‑compliance with the existing trade deal.
As of 1 p.m. ET Monday, the tariffs have not yet been formally adopted; talks with EU and German officials continue.
The European Commission rejected the U.S. claim of non‑compliance and said it will keep options open to protect EU interests.
