Vice-President of India Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan conducted a series of site visits in Ladakh on June 20, 2026, during his three-day official visit to the Union Territory. Accompanied by Lieutenant Governor Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, the Vice-President began at the Hall of Fame War Memorial in Leh where he paid homage to Indian Armed Forces soldiers and praised their "Nation First: Always and Every Time" spirit. He appreciated the Army for maintaining the memorial and visited galleries depicting operations during Indo-Pak and Indo-China wars.
The Vice-President then visited the sacred Sindhu Ghat near Leh and offered prayers on the banks of the River Sindhu, which he described as a timeless symbol of Bharat's civilizational heritage and cultural unity. At the Pashmina Goat Farm in Upshi, he was briefed on initiatives to preserve Ladakh's Pashmina heritage and commended the farm's contribution to sustainable livestock management and socio-economic empowerment of local communities, particularly women engaged in Pashmina production.
He also inspected the first rock check dam on the Sindhu River constructed under the Sindhu Jal Samriddhi Abhiyan, an eco-friendly and cost-effective initiative conceptualized by Lieutenant Governor Saxena. The Vice-President described this as an innovative solution to Ladakh's water challenges that augments water levels for irrigation during critical sowing seasons. Later, he met with personnel of the 5th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and lauded their dedication to safeguarding the nation's frontiers under challenging conditions.
