Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smt. Annpurna Devi chaired a review meeting in Kolkata on August 20, 2026, to assess the implementation of central government schemes in West Bengal. The meeting was attended by Union Minister of State Smt Savitri Thakur, West Bengal Minister of State Smt. Malati Rava Roy, and Secretary Shri Anil Malik from the Ministry of Women and Child Development, along with senior officers from both central and state governments.

The review focused on three key central schemes: Mission Shakti, Mission Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0, and Mission Vatsalya. Minister Annpurna Devi emphasized the need for closer coordination between central and state governments to ensure every eligible woman and child in West Bengal receives scheme benefits. She stressed that reviews should translate into action, outcomes, and ultimately transformation, calling for time-bound implementation, transparency, and real-time monitoring of schemes.

The meeting discussed the effective use of digital platforms including the Poshan Tracker and the PMMVY portal for monitoring and delivery of services. The Minister expressed confidence that with improved coordination and shared commitment, West Bengal would be able to deliver full benefits of these schemes to its women and children. The consultative committee of Members of Parliament for the Ministry is scheduled to meet next in Kolkata, chaired by Minister Annpurna Devi.
