The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment published a case study demonstrating the impact of educational financial assistance through its scholarship programs. The document highlights Yarra Mahesh, a 21-year-old B.Tech second-year student from the General-EWS category, who received scholarship support of ₹52,540 in 2025. This financial assistance enabled him to pursue his technical education despite financial constraints.
The scholarship covered multiple essential expenses including college fees, hostel expenses, food charges, travel expenses, study materials, internet and academic resources, registration costs, and other miscellaneous educational needs. A significant portion of the support enabled the purchase of a laptop, which became essential for his academics, programming, project work, and online learning.
During his second-year internship, Mahesh applied this support to work on a research paper focused on Skin Cancer Classification using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques. The research work has been completed and is currently under the publication process, providing him with practical exposure to emerging healthcare technology applications.
The financial assistance significantly reduced the burden on his family and allowed Mahesh to concentrate more effectively on academics and skill development in programming, software development, and emerging technologies. The case study illustrates how government scholarship support can help students overcome financial barriers and pursue technical education and research aspirations.
