The Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports is preparing to implement Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to 31, 2026, as part of the ongoing annual Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters initiative that began in 2021. This year's campaign specifically emphasizes effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste while continuing its broader objectives of institutionalizing Swachhata practices, reducing pendency, strengthening record management, and ensuring optimal office space utilization across government offices.

The campaign operates in two distinct phases: a Preparatory Phase from September 15 to 30, 2026, followed by an Implementation Phase from October 2 to 31, 2026. During the preparatory period, the department is identifying pending references received from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), VIPs, State Governments, and matters relating to Parliament Assurances. Additionally, the department is assessing the volume of redundant materials scheduled for disposal and finalizing disposal procedures. Specific measures are being implemented for effective e-waste collection and segregation following Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) guidelines, with targets being established for the implementation phase.

The preparatory activities also include strengthening record management and space management practices across the department and its affiliated organizations. These measures aim to ensure systematic disposal of redundant materials, efficient utilization of available office space, and reinforcement of institutional practices related to cleanliness and resource management.

The department has demonstrated previous success in this area, having auctioned e-waste from Shastri Bhawan in December 2025, which generated revenue of ₹2,35,100. Furthermore, the department completed scanning and digitization of physical files and records in January 2026, building on these achievements for the current campaign.

The Department of Youth Affairs, along with its attached office, subordinate offices including field offices, and autonomous body, is preparing to implement Special Campaign 6.0 with commitment to strengthening Swachhata practices, reducing pendency, improving record and space management, and ensuring responsible e-waste management and disposal.
