The Ministry of Law and Justice, through the Bar Council of India (BCI), has released the Draft Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2026 for public consultation. The draft bill was hosted on the BCI's official website on July 18, 2026, and stakeholders including the public are invited to submit comments and suggestions by July 31, 2026, at 3:00 PM. Submissions can be made via email to draftadvact2026bill@gmail.com and lmpcell-dla@nic.in. The Department emphasized its commitment to a transparent, participative, and consultative legislative process to address the evolving needs of the legal profession and support the Viksit Bharat @2047 development goals. This initiative is part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
