The Ministry of Labour & Employment has launched a Special Drive from June 1 to August 31, 2026, for expeditious disposal of long-pending labour cases. As part of this initiative, the Regional Labour Commissioner (Central), New Delhi-cum-Authority under the Code on Wages, 2019, has identified 178 claim cases involving Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for focused hearing and disposal. Notices were issued on June 15, 2026, requiring parties to appear on June 24, 2026, with the entire day exclusively earmarked for these DMRC matters in an unprecedented single-day hearing exercise.
This initiative represents a new approach of bucketing similar cases and undertaking cluster-based hearings, enabling labour authorities to handle large volumes of cases efficiently and in a time-bound manner. The exercise aims to significantly accelerate disposal of long-pending cases, provide timely relief to workers, and enhance confidence in the labour justice delivery mechanism. DMRC's Additional General Manager (Projects) has recognized the importance of expeditious disposal and assured full cooperation for the success of the special drive, which is expected to serve as a model for speedy disposal of pending matters across the country.
The Ministry remains committed to ensuring effective grievance redressal, strengthening industrial relations, and safeguarding workers' rights and welfare through responsive labour administration. This initiative demonstrates the CLC(C) Organisation's resolve to adopt innovative and result-oriented measures for addressing case backlogs and improving administrative efficiency in labour law enforcement.
