The Ministry of Labour & Employment announced the successful resolution of an industrial dispute through conciliation proceedings at the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Model Hospital in Karnataka. The dispute was raised by the Karnataka State ESIC Model Hospital Contract Workers' Union regarding the premature disengagement of Nursing Orderlies and Supporting Staff before their contract period expired.

Through the intervention of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) machinery, specifically the Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central) and Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) in Bengaluru, all 37 affected contract workers were redeployed effective from October 23, 2026. Additionally, their pending wages for September 2026, amounting to approximately ₹7.40 lakh, were paid in full.

The conciliation process involved ESIC as the principal employer along with the contractor, who were called to participate in the proceedings. The resolution safeguarded the employment of the workers and cleared their outstanding wages, promoting fair labor practices and harmonious industrial relations. The successful outcome demonstrates the government's commitment to protecting workers' interests and facilitating amicable dispute resolution through constructive dialogue among workers, employers, and stakeholders.
