Eurotex Industries and Exports Limited has provided an update on a long-standing legal dispute with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL).
Supreme Court Appeal Dismissal:
- The company had filed an appeal before the Hon'ble Supreme Court seeking clarification on an order that was in its favor but not accepted by MSEDCL.
- The company's advocate provided a copy of the judgment on 03rd August, 2026, confirming that this appeal has been dismissed.
- The company is now deciding its further course of action.
MSEDCL Demand Notice:
- The company received a formal demand notice from the Superintending Engineer, MSEDCL, Kolhapur Circle Office, dated 22nd July 2026.
- The notice pertains to outstanding electricity bills for three consumer connections.
- Two connections (Consumer No. 251019402196 and 251019402510) are permanently disconnected, with outstanding amounts of ₹5,33,30,526.87 and ₹21,06,59,651.25 respectively at the time of disconnection.
- One connection (Consumer No. 251019402668) is currently active and has an outstanding amount of ₹86,16,67,743.09 as of the notice date.
- Citing an MSEDCL internal provision (Letter No. P.Com/Accts/19021 dated 06.07.2013), the utility has transferred the total outstanding amount from the two disconnected connections to the active connection.
Total Outstanding Demand:
The notice demands payment of a consolidated outstanding amount of ₹140,45,14,608.55, broken down as follows:

Consequence of Non-Payment:
MSEDCL has threatened to disconnect the electricity supply to the active connection (Consumer No. 251019402668) if the total amount of ₹140,45,14,608.55 is not paid within 15 days from the date of receipt of the notice.
Consumer Grievance Forum Order:
- The company had filed a complaint with the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF), Mahavitaran, Kolhapur, following an order dated 12.03.2026 in Writ Petition No. 1186/2009.
- The CGRF rejected the company's complaint as per its Order dated 09.07.2026 (Case No. 25 (2026), ID No. 2026040072).
- The company retains the right to appeal this order within sixty days before the Electricity Ombudsman in Mumbai.

In a separate note, the company provided further context:
- The dispute involves "notional billing" by MSEDCL for its Plot E-1. The Hon'ble Bombay High Court had directed the company to approach the CGRF, which subsequently dismissed the petition.
- The company is in the process of applying to the Electricity Ombudsman.
- The demand of ₹140.45 crores includes an alleged wrongly claimed amount of ₹54.28 crores (including interest of ₹37.48 crores) for its Plot E-23, which the company states is not acceptable.
- The company is taking legal steps to protect its interests against the disconnection threat.
