GKB Ophthalmics Ltd. has filed a regulatory disclosure pursuant to Regulation 30 of SEBI Listing Regulations regarding developments in an ongoing labor litigation case (Case no. 32/09).
The company previously intimated the exchange on September 12, 2025 about an Award passed by the Industrial Tribunal Panjim-Goa dated May 25, 2021, which the company is challenging through writ petition no. WP/358/2021 filed before the Hon'ble High Court of Bombay at Goa.
Simultaneously, the matter was pending before the Office of The Labour Commissioner for execution of the Award. The Labour Commissioner passed an Order dated September 4, 2025 for recovery of ₹8,82,00,856 (₹8.82 crore) from the company.
In continuation of this development, the company received a "Notice of Demand" from the Office of the Mamlatdar of Bardez Taluka, Mapusa, Goa on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 5:00 P.M. (IST). The notice demands recovery of the said dues amounting to ₹8,82,00,856 within a period of 10 days from the date of service of the notice.
The company has stated that in consultation with its legal counsel, it will be challenging this Order before the Hon'ble High Court of Bombay by filing a writ petition seeking appropriate relief.
