The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions announced the successful redeployment of nearly 65,000 erstwhile Ordnance Factory employees into regular Government service, securing their future following the restructuring of the Ordnance Factory Board. This landmark decision came after the extension of deemed deputation until retirement for these employees.
A 19-member delegation representing Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) and affiliated employees' organizations called on Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh to discuss government employee issues. The delegation included representatives from Bharatiya Pratiraksha Mazdoor Sangh (BPMS), Government Employees National Confederation (GENC), Public Sector Employees National Confederation, SHAR Employees Trade Union, and Space Employees Association, covering employees from defence establishments, public sector organizations, scientific institutions, and other Central Government services.
The delegation appreciated the employee-centric initiatives and specifically thanked Dr. Jitendra Singh, as a member of the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM), for supporting the redeployment decision that addressed one of the most significant concerns arising from the corporatisation of the Ordnance Factory Board.
Additional service-related issues discussed included extending the benefit of the Old Pension Scheme to compassionate appointment cases, career progression matters, cadre-related issues, and the need for wider stakeholder consultations on government employee matters. The delegation suggested simplifying administrative processes to reduce avoidable litigation and ensure timely resolution of service-related matters.
Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the government's commitment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a consultative and responsive approach in addressing employee and pensioner issues. He stated that every genuine representation receives due consideration through appropriate Ministries and Departments, and suggestions aimed at improving governance, simplifying procedures, and enhancing administrative efficiency are always welcome. The government continues to prioritize transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric governance through progressive administrative reforms.
