Key Development
The Deputy Conservator of Forests, Bengaluru has issued an order directing the handover of 430 acres and 21.853 guntas of land to the forest department. This land was originally granted, conveyed, and gifted by the Government of Karnataka through various documents in favor of M/s. Hindustan Machine Tools Limited (now known as HMT Machine Tools Limited).
Current Status
The company has completed payment of all transactional amounts and is currently in possession of the land. The Karnataka Forest Department has suggested appealing the matter before the Conservator of Forest, Bengaluru (Territorial).
Legal Status
The subject matter is already sub judice before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India.
Company Action
HMT Limited states it is taking all necessary legal and appropriate actions to protect its interests in the matter.
