Regulatory and Policy Measures
The Reserve Bank of India, exercising powers under sub‑section (1) of Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, has extended the existing directive issued to The Irinjalakuda Town Co-operative Bank Ltd. The original directive dated July 29, 2025 provided a six‑month period ending on 30 January 2026. This was subsequently extended up to 30 July 2026 by Directive No. DOR.MON.No.D-08/12.26.061/2026-27 dated 21 April 2026. The RBI now further extends the period for an additional three months, from the close of business on 30 July 2026 to the close of business on 30 October 2026, subject to review. The RBI clarified that this extension and any modification should not be construed as an indication that it is satisfied with the bank’s financial position. All other terms and conditions of the original directive remain unchanged.
