Petitioners Smt. Indu Devi and Smt. Prabha Devi filed a writ petition (W.P.(C) No. 2810 of 2021) in the High Court of Jharkhand at Ranchi seeking possession of an auctioned property. The respondents were the State of Jharkhand, Deputy Commissioner Ranchi, Bank of India (head office and Tatisilwai branch) and Akhilesh Kumar Singh. On 16 June 2026 the Court ordered that possession be given to the petitioners after the auction sale concluded. This order was challenged in Letters Patent Appeal No. 7292 of 2026; the Division Bench upheld the entitlement of successful auction purchasers to receive delivery within a reasonable period and dismissed the appeal. Possession was physically handed over to the petitioners on 3 July 2026. Since the relief sought had already been granted, the writ petition was dismissed as infructuous, and any pending interlocutory applications were disposed of.
