Earlier Direction (17 May 2022): Court directed respondents to consider payment of charge allowance under Article 85 read with Article 87 of the CSR for the period the petitioner performed higher‑office duties, and to consider his promotion to Junior Assistant when a vacancy arises, subject to eligibility, seniority, and other prescribed conditions.
Compliance by Respondents: Jammu & Kashmir Power Development Corporation released Rs 2,23,546 on 7 August 2026 under Order No. 333‑JK (PDC) of 2026, Authority No. 192, covering the period up to the disposal of the writ petition.
Compliance Report (10 August 2026): The respondents reported that promotion of the petitioner will be considered subject to his eligibility under applicable rules, availability of vacancy, seniority, qualifying the prescribed type test and fulfilment of other conditions governing such promotion.

The Court observed that no issue remains in the contempt petition and ordered the proceedings to be closed.
The petitioner was informed that he may revive the contempt petition if the grievance regarding promotion, as and when undertaken by the respondents, still survives.
