Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) expresses profound grief over the loss of Shri Manish Karkada in an unfortunate incident that occurred on 30 September 2026 in the Coker Hydrotreater Unit (CHTU) of MRPL. The company extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time.

Financial Support Package

MRPL has announced comprehensive financial support for the family of the deceased:

  • Direct financial support: ₹90 lakh
  • Group Term Life Insurance (GTLI) benefits: Approximately ₹10 lakh
  • Workmen Compensation Policy (WCP) benefits: Approximately ₹20 lakh
  • Total financial support and insurance benefits: Approximately ₹1.20 crore

The company acknowledges that no financial assistance can compensate for the loss of a precious life.

Secondary Workforce Insurance Initiative

MRPL is developing a Mediclaim insurance proposal for its secondary workforce. This proposal is currently being drafted and is under discussion. The finalization will occur after discussions with the Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Dakshina Kannada, and the respected DC Dakshina Kannada. The company expects the Mediclaim arrangement process to be completed within approximately four weeks.
