A fire incident occurred at the Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) facility. The incident was caused by the rupture of a Cold Separator operating at high pressure in the Coker Hydrotreater Unit, which resulted in a fire that started at approximately 12:20 hours.
Emergency Response:
The battery limits of the affected Coker Hydrotreater Unit were immediately isolated following the incident. MRPL's emergency response and firefighting teams were deployed to control the situation. The fire was brought under control and completely extinguished by 14:47 hours on the same day.
Casualty Report:
During subsequent combing and inspection operations after the fire was extinguished, the body of one deceased person was found at the affected site. One other person sustained burn injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Necessary medical care is being provided to the injured individual.
