MRPL received a favorable final order from CESTAT, Bangalore in a customs duty classification dispute dating from October 2015 to February 2017.
The tribunal's ruling allows MRPL to claim a refund of ₹212.53 crore paid under protest, extinguishing a total contingent liability of ₹616.82 crore.
The refund will improve the company's cash flow position, and MRPL will file a formal refund application under the Customs Act, 1962.
