Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Annpurna Devi conducted an inspection visit to the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) office on October 13, 2026, as part of the Swachhta Abhiyan implementation phase running from October 2 to October 31, 2026. During the review of record management, the Minister directed that all physical files should be digitized with only preservation-required files retained in hard copy, emphasizing expedited weeding-out processes to beautify the office and create utilizable space.

NCPCR reported significant progress in file management, having weeded out more than 7,000 files by scanning over 5.3 lakh pages during the 2025-26 period. For the 2026-27 fiscal year, the commission has set ambitious targets of scanning more than 8 lakh pages and weeding out over 10,000 files. The Minister specifically directed that all pending files must be disposed of by December 31, 2026, to ensure efficient administrative processes while maintaining workplace cleanliness and hygiene.

The review included progress on technological initiatives, with NCPCR developing Social Media Guidelines for Technology Companies and collaborating with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to create an AI-based tool for proactive detection of Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Material (CSEAM) circulating online. The Minister directed expeditious implementation of both initiatives, citing their critical importance.

Regarding complaint handling, Smt. Annpurna Devi emphasized that all complaints must be addressed sensitively, responsibly, and expeditiously, referencing the Prime Minister's statement that "an effective grievance redressal system is the true strength of a democracy." She instructed that no effort should be spared in providing complete support to complainants.
