Nitta Gelatin SION Norms Revised for Gelatine, Ossein

Key Regulatory Update

The DGFT has issued a notification revising the Standard Input Output Norms (SION) applicable to the manufacture and export of Gelatin and Ossein.

Operational Impact Details

The Company imports degreased crushed bones (called Gel bones) as a key raw material for manufacturing and exporting Gelatin and Ossein.

Revised Input-Output Norms:

• For Gelatine: Permissible input-output ratio reduced from 7.35 MT to 3.92 MT of gel bones required to manufacture 1 MT of Gelatine
• For Ossein: Norm newly prescribed at 2.24 MT of gel bones required to manufacture 1 MT of Ossein

Company Assessment and Actions

The Company is currently assessing the implications of the revised SION norms on its operations and financial performance. The Company is examining the regulatory aspects of the notification to make suitable representation before the Ministry of Commerce and Industry as well as before the industry body for reconsideration of the norms.
