United India Insurance Settles Rs 20 Lakh Claim

Petition for Special Leave to Appeal (C) No. 23631/2025 filed by Babita & Ors against Udayveer Singh & Ors, arising from the impugned final judgment and order dated 17‑05‑2024 in MA No. 469/2015 passed by the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Gwalior.
The matter was heard before Hon’ble Justices K.V. Viswanathan and Arun Palli, with senior advocates Dr. Aditya Sondhi, N.S. Nappinai and Shriya Maini appearing for the petitioners and counsel Ms. Ishita Puranik for the petitioners; Mr. Amit Kumar Singh represented Respondent No. 3 – United India Insurance Company.
During the hearing, the parties reached a settlement whereby Respondent No. 3 – United India Insurance Company agreed to pay a consolidated amount of Rs.20,00,000 (Rupees twenty lakhs) in addition to the amount already awarded by the High Court.

The additional compensation of Rs.20,00,000 shall be paid to the petitioners upon verification of the account details furnished by them; the amount will be transferred directly within 30 days of verification.
Upon receipt of this amount, the petitioners will have no further claim against United India Insurance Company.
The Special Leave Petition is disposed of in these terms, and the Court recorded appreciation for the counsel and officials of United India Insurance Company for their positive response in settling the matter.
