The Ministry of Electronics & IT announced that the Aadhaar App has crossed 40 million (4 crore) downloads, marking significant adoption of digital identity services in India. The app serves as a comprehensive platform for Aadhaar-related services, enabling residents to update personal details without visiting physical centers.
Since its launch, the app has facilitated 11.65 lakh address updates and approximately 49 lakh mobile number updates, allowing users to maintain accurate contact information linked to their Aadhaar. The email update feature, launched on 1 July, has seen around 12.5 lakh email addresses added or updated. This service, previously priced at ₹75, has been made free of charge until 31 December 2026.
The app's security features have been widely adopted, with residents using the biometric lock/unlock facility more than 19.1 million (1.91 crore) times. This feature provides users with greater control over their personal information by allowing instant locking or unlocking of biometrics. The Aadhaar App aligns with the Digital India Mission objectives by improving ease of living through convenient and privacy-first identity verification services.
