The Ministry of Electronics & IT announced that the Aadhaar App has crossed 5 crore (50 million) downloads, marking significant adoption of digital Aadhaar services. This milestone represents the app's growing role as a digital interface between residents and UIDAI, enabling access to various services directly from smartphones.

The app has demonstrated strong usage metrics with over 60 lakh (6 million) mobile number updates, more than 15 lakh (1.5 million) address updates, and over 23 lakh (2.3 million) email updates processed through the platform. These numbers reflect residents' increasing preference for digital Aadhaar services without visiting physical centers.

UIDAI has expanded the offline verification ecosystem by onboarding more than 200 entities as Offline Verification Seeking Entities (OVSEs) since the program's rollout in January. This enables secure, consent-based paperless verification through QR code-based methods and digitally signed documents without requiring real-time connectivity to UIDAI's central database.

The app operates on the "Show, Share and Verify" principle, giving Aadhaar holders greater control over their information usage while enabling convenient identity verification. The offline verification approach ensures residents can share only minimum necessary data, enhancing privacy through transparent and consent-driven interactions.

These initiatives align with the Government's Digital India vision and objective of improving ease of living through secure, accessible technology-enabled public services.
