Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah visited the campus of JGMM Medical College and KLE Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Hubballi, Karnataka on September 19, 2026. The visit marked the inauguration of a major healthcare infrastructure project developed by KLE, an organization that has been serving the nation for over 110 years through education and healthcare services.
The new medical college and hospital complex represents a significant investment in healthcare infrastructure, constructed on approximately 50 acres of land at a cost of around ₹700 crore. The facility features a total built-up area of 20 lakh square feet and includes both educational and healthcare components. The medical college has been allocated 250 MBBS seats, while the hospital component comprises 1,200 beds, with 300 beds specifically reserved for poor patients, ensuring accessibility to underprivileged sections of society.
The hospital offers comprehensive medical services under one roof, including basic specialty facilities such as General Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Psychiatry, Dentistry, and Physiotherapy. Additionally, the facility provides super-specialty services including Cardiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Organ Transplantation, Urology, Oncology, and Endocrinology. The hospital is equipped with modern laboratories and state-of-the-art facilities including 24-hour high-speed emergency and trauma care, a modern dialysis unit, digital X-ray, high-resolution CT scanning, and ultrasonography services.
