Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the fourth edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) in Greater Noida on September 25, 2026, with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath and other dignitaries present. The event marks the 12th anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' mission announcement on the same date in 2014.
Shah emphasized Uttar Pradesh's transformation into an investment hub targeting a $1 trillion economy, attributing this to improved law and order under the 'double-engine government'. The 2025 edition attracted over 500,000 visitors, resulted in more than 2,400 MoUs signed, and brought investments worth thousands of crores of rupees. The fourth edition aims to break all previous records.
The Home Minister highlighted India's economic progress, noting Moody's raised growth forecast from 6% to 7% and Japan Credit Rating Agency's upgrade of India's sovereign rating from BBB+ to A-. India maintained a 7.8% growth rate in the last quarter, making it the fastest-growing among major economies. GST collection reached ₹2.11 lakh crore in July (highest for July), while capital expenditure crossed ₹12.2 lakh crore.
Uttar Pradesh's defense manufacturing corridor spans six nodes: Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lucknow, Agra, Aligarh, and Kanpur. National defense production stands at ₹1,78,000 crore, with exports increasing 56 times compared to 2013-14, now reaching 80 countries. Specific products include BrahMos missiles manufactured in UP and AK-203 assault rifles from Amethi.
The state has transitioned from previous issues with crime and illegal firearms to legitimate industries. The 'One District, One Product' (ODOP) scheme has significantly progressed traditional industries including Bhadohi carpets, Moradabad brassware, Firozabad glass, Saharanpur woodcraft, Kannauj perfumes, and Banaras silk sarees. A new 'One District, One Cuisine' (ODOC) initiative was launched to promote district-specific foods like Varanasi's Malaiyo, Tiranga Barfi, Agra's Petha, Mathura's Peda, and Meerut's Gajak nationwide.
Infrastructure developments supporting investment include the Noida Airport, expressways, and metro systems operational in seven cities (highest in any Indian state). The event also commemorated the 110th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, whose economic policies influenced India's development.
