Launch Overview
Anand Badkul, innovator and founder of the Energy Socialism Mission, formally launched the mission across Indian states on 7 September 2026, beginning with his home state of Madhya Pradesh. The mission’s stated objective is “Self‑Owned, Freely Shared, Human‑Friendly Energy for the Entire Human Race,” and it seeks strategic alliances with state renewable energy departments.
Hidden Dam Project Details
The flagship proposal, titled BHOPAL HIDDEN DAM PROJECT, envisions a 250 MW underground hydroelectric plant in Bhopal. The technical foundation is protected under Indian Patent Application No 202521026578, also filed with the World Intellectual Property Organisation, and a copyrighted technical guide (Chapter 4 – Discrete Hydroelectricity Modelling). The design shifts generation from surface‑level to a deep‑tunnel gravity system, exploiting a 9‑metre elevation difference between Bada Talab and Chhota Talab. Heavy‑duty slide gates feed water into underground canals that deepen progressively, accelerating water velocity into a high‑pressure tunnel that drives a single large‑scale turbine.
Smart Recirculation & Flood Control
A “Smart Diverter” functions as the plant’s brain. During normal operation, water exiting the turbine is pumped back to the lake, creating a closed‑loop balance. In monsoon conditions, when lake capacity is reached, the diverter automatically redirects the pump outlet to a discharge canal, providing active flood mitigation for the city.
Infrastructure & Smart City Integration
The plant will supply 100 % green, captive power to Bhopal Metro Rail, municipal water‑treatment plants and the Public Distribution System. Smart substations will feature seamless switchover capability between the national grid and self‑generation.
Project Support & Social Impact
Anand Badkul will oversee the entire project life‑cycle, committing that 70 % of the agreed fees will be donated to charities for under‑privileged children, branding the effort as a “Power for People” initiative.
Execution Partners
- Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL) is recommended for complex deep‑tunnel civil engineering and underground canal excavation.
- BHEL Bhopal is recommended to supply the 250 MW turbine‑generator set, switchyard and electrical distribution equipment.
Financing
Funding is to be raised through municipal green bonds, modeled on the Indore “Jalud” scheme.
Additional Statewide Energy Initiatives
- Indore – Phase 1: Expansion of the Julood solar plant from 60 MW to 120 MW on the same land and panels, with an estimated cost of approximately Rs 300 million (excluding inverter and grid‑connectivity equipment).
- Indore – Phase 2: Night‑time operation of the Julood solar plant at INR 2/kWh, projected to create employment for 4,000 poor unskilled families.
- Jabalpur: Installation of a 150 MW wind power plant at Rs 1.80/kWh. The turbines will be ground‑mounted, requiring no additional infrastructure, and will include a 20 MW self‑sustained segment powered by a human‑driven artificial wind producer, providing jobs for 900 unskilled poor families daily.
- Gwalior: Development of a 90 MW human‑powered plant at Rs 1.80/kWh, self‑sustained through the same artificial wind concept, expected to employ 3,000 unskilled poor families daily.
