Integration of the Association of People with Disability’s Yes to Access (YTA) platform with the Government of India’s Sugamya Bharat App to enable citizen‑led reporting and mapping of accessibility barriers in public spaces.
The integration was announced at the “Circle of Collaboration” event held at the India International Centre, New Delhi, inaugurated by Ms. Manmeet Kaur Nanda, IAS, Additional Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD).
Panelists included Dr. S. Govindaraj (Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities), Mr. Anand Shekhar (CEO, WaterAid India), and Ms. Puja Anand (President, Association of Designers of India); the session was moderated by Dr. Bhumika Modh, Head – Public Policy and Collaborations, APD, with a welcome address by Mr. Jacob Kurian, Honorary Secretary, APD.
The combined platforms aim to create a scalable map of accessible locations, assisting persons with disabilities, caregivers, families, and allies, addressing the estimated 2.68 crore (26.8 million) Indians living with a disability.
An interactive exhibition showcased the Yes to Access journey, collaborations, and a live dashboard of accessibility data, along with a “Way Forward” space and “Postcards to the Future” installation.
A subsequent Circle of Collaboration will be hosted in Bengaluru on June 13, 2026 at Saanchi Gallery, Bangalore International Centre to broaden stakeholder engagement.
