The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the export of a 24 metric ton consignment of frozen food products from Sonipat, Haryana to Canada on October 1, 2026. The shipment was exported by Aterna Foods Producer Company Limited and consisted of 2,295 boxes of frozen food products with a total value of CAD 35,140. The product mix included green peas, mixed vegetables, peas and carrots, sweet corn, and samosa products.

APEDA provided support to the exporting unit under its Financial Assistance Scheme, marking a significant step in expanding international market opportunities for Indian processed food products. This FPO-led export model demonstrates the growing role of Farmer Producer Organisations in developing export-oriented value chains and connecting farmers directly with global buyers. The initiative aims to improve returns for agricultural producers by linking farm produce with processing facilities and international markets.

APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev congratulated the exporter and stakeholders, emphasizing that direct exports by FPOs would significantly enhance value realization for producers. He acknowledged NIFTEM's contribution to the initiative and expressed optimism about expanding exports to the Canadian market. APEDA continues to facilitate market linkages and export opportunities for Indian agricultural and processed food products while supporting the integration of farmer groups into global value chains.
