Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav presided as Chief Guest over ASSOCHAM's National Conference on 'Electric Mobility: Building India an Electric Mobility Hub for Viksit Bharat' in New Delhi. The conference brought together senior policymakers, industry leaders, automotive manufacturers, technology providers and other stakeholders to deliberate on accelerating India's electric mobility transition and strengthening the country's position as a global EV manufacturing hub.

Minister Yadav emphasized that India's transition to electric mobility represents more than technological replacement—it involves building a sustainable industrial ecosystem that strengthens manufacturing, creates green jobs, and supports Prime Minister's vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He stated the transition must focus on green growth, resilient infrastructure, transparent governance, and a circular economy ensuring long-term environmental sustainability.

The conference deliberations highlighted specific requirements including policy continuity, stronger charging infrastructure, localization of manufacturing, resilient battery supply chains, financing support, and technological innovation to accelerate EV adoption. Minister Yadav informed that government reforms have simplified environmental clearances, digitized approval systems through the PARIVESH portal, rationalized compliance requirements, and promoted ease of doing business without compromising environmental safeguards.

Yadav emphasized the need to move from a linear 'take-make-dispose' model toward a circular economy based on reuse, recycling, and sustainable resource management. He stated electric mobility must be supported by robust charging infrastructure, localization of advanced manufacturing, secure critical mineral supply chains, battery recycling, and resource efficiency. The Minister concluded that industry, policymakers, and institutions must collaborate to build an innovation-led ecosystem positioning India as a global hub for clean mobility, with ecology and economy progressing together.

The inaugural session featured ASSOCHAM President Nirmal K. Minda (Chairman of UNO Minda), ASSOCHAM National Council on Green Mobility Chairman Nishant Arya (Vice CMD of JBM Group), and ASSOCHAM Secretary General Saurabh Sanyal.
