The Ministry of Ayush announced the 11th Ayurveda Day celebrations to be held on September 23, 2026, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, under the theme 'Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow' (स्वस्थ भविष्य के लिए आयुर्वेद). Union Minister of State (I/C) for Ayush and Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, addressed the Curtain Raiser Press Conference at the National Media Centre, New Delhi, marking the commencement of the nationwide campaign.
Minister Jadhav emphasized that the world is increasingly looking toward preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyles, nutrition, wellness, and holistic health, areas where India has rich tradition and experience. He outlined three important areas guiding this year's campaign: 'Integrative Healthcare for Better Health Outcomes' focusing on leveraging different systems of medicine, 'Evidence, Research and Innovation in Ayurveda' emphasizing research as essential for global acceptance, and 'Ayurveda for Community Wellbeing and Sustainable Living' highlighting Ayurveda's role in promoting individual and community wellbeing.
The Minister called for the 11th Ayurveda Day to evolve beyond a government program into a people's movement and national health communication campaign, urging media support to disseminate accurate, evidence-based information on Ayurveda to homes, schools, colleges, Gen Z, and rural/urban communities.
Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Jaipur, highlighted key features including the National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards 2026, new programs at NIA Jaipur, safety dossiers on medicinal plants, Standard Treatment Guidelines for skin diseases, a report on the Ayush Services Sector, and Ayush Vision 2030, along with MoU exchanges and other activities.
The event was attended by Ms. Alarmelmangai D. (Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush), Shri Satyajit Paul (DDG, Ministry of Ayush), Shri Dhirendra Ojha (Principal DG, PIB), and senior officials from CCRAS, AIIA Delhi, NIA Jaipur, and MDNIY, along with media representatives.
