The Ayush services sector, encompassing Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy, has emerged as a significant economic and employment engine in India. According to the Ayush Service Sector Report by RIS released on Ayurveda Day 2026, the sector was valued at US$36.92 billion in FY2024-25, registering a robust 16.91% compound annual growth rate since FY2022-23.

The sector directly supports an estimated 1.76 million livelihoods across healthcare, wellness, education and allied services, with more than one million livelihoods concentrated in local and standalone clinics. Women account for 43% of the overall Ayush services workforce, with representation exceeding 50% across several organized segments: 60% in spas and wellness resorts, 58% in educational institutes, 57% in day-care centers, and 53% in hospitals.

Standalone clinics remain the largest revenue-generating segment, contributing US$16.21 billion (43.9% of sector revenue), while day-care centers account for another US$10.13 billion. Together, these two segments contribute over 70% of the sector's total revenue. Ayurveda is the largest individual system, accounting for US$17.73 billion or approximately 48% of total Ayush services revenue.

The wellness segment is experiencing particularly strong growth with a 21.29% CAGR, while Yoga centers registered approximately 75% revenue growth over two years. The sector is also gaining traction in Medical Value Travel, generating an estimated US$1.77 billion in FY2024-25. International patients, though accounting for only about 5% of patient volumes, contribute approximately 15-25% of hospital segment revenue, with therapeutic programs typically involving stays of 5 to 11 days.

The assessment projects substantial future growth, with the Ayush services sector expected to expand from US$36.92 billion in FY2024-25 to an estimated US$216-318 billion by 2047. This expansion is anticipated to generate significant employment opportunities across diverse areas including healthcare delivery, wellness, education, medical travel, research, digital health and allied services.
