Overview

The Bharat Global Industries Forum (BGIF) was launched a little over a year ago as a Swadeshi‑driven strategic think‑and‑action platform. It describes its mission as “From Vision to Action — Building Bharat as a Global Industrial Hub through Collaboration, Innovation, and Industrial Excellence.” BGIF has already filed for trademark protection, opened state chapters in Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, and is forming new chapters in Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Leadership and Governance

The forum’s founding leadership blends industrialists, technologists and policy experts. Sridhar Vembu, Founder and Chief Scientist of Zoho Corporation, serves as Chief Patron. Dr Amrit Sagar Mittal, Vice Chairman of the Sonalika Group, is Chairman. Rajkumar Goel, Managing Director of SLR Metaliks, is Vice Chairman. Dr Ashwin Johar, a founder member and Central Committee Member of the BJP’s Foreign Affairs Department, is a founder member. Yogesh Mehta, Chairman of the Vyankatesh Group, acts as Secretary General and State Convenor of the BJP MP Economic Cell. Pankaj Hans, Managing Director of Competent Industries, is Treasurer. Raj Kumar, Chairman of the United Group of Companies, and Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Rajya Sabha MP and Whole‑time Director of Sun International Limited, are also founder members. Dr Sidharath S. Sharma, a 24‑year veteran of private and government sectors, serves as Organization Secretary and Advisor to the Department of Co‑operation, Government of Haryana.

The Executive Committee adds further prominence with members such as Rajinder Gupta, Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman Emeritus of the Trident Group, and K. Vishweshwar Reddy, Lok Sabha MP and the only Indian parliamentarian to hold a US patent while in office. Other committee members include B. Indrasen Reddy (Four Solar Energy Systems, Energy Homes, Namaste Solar), Naresh Kumar (Dynamic Group, offshore drilling pioneer), and Madhuram Reddy, noted for contributions to infrastructure and sustainable farming.

International Outreach

BGIF’s International Committee comprises Indian‑origin professionals based abroad, including Jitu Yadav in Dubai, Vikas Vashisht in Sydney, Dr Dame Neelam in Belarus, and former diplomat B.K. Anand. This network provides a presence across three continents and supports the forum’s goal of building partnerships through the Indian diaspora.

Membership Base

Since its inception, BGIF has attracted a diverse roster of industry members spanning manufacturing, FMCG, steel, real estate, technology and international trade. Notable members include Zoho Corporation, Sonalika Tractors, SLR Metaliks, Haldiram’s, Pioneer Group, Trident Group, Sun International, Supple Tek, Dynamic Group, Unity Builders, AMD Group, Ambika Steels, Arora Iron & Steel, Varuna International, SG Alloy & JD Alloy, RHI Magnesita, Reghuvamsi Group, Nano Wings, Altruist Tech and GB Realty.

Advocacy and First Cross‑Border Achievement

During the recent Middle East crisis, BGIF engaged with the Government of India to seek relief from freight overcharges imposed by shipping companies; the government accepted the demand, delivering tangible relief to industry. BGIF was also invited by the Ministry of Finance for pre‑Budget consultations, where its recommendations were well received. In a landmark achievement, the forum facilitated an MoU between an Indian manufacturer and an overseas industrial partner to strengthen manufacturing cooperation and technology exchange, a template the forum intends to replicate with other countries.

Vision and Economic Targets

BGIF’s stated objective is to help India grow from its current size of roughly ₹350 trillion to a ₹3,000 trillion economy by 2047. The forum aims to establish India as a global hub for manufacturing and exports, generate quality employment for the youth workforce, and position the country as a centre for research and development and international trust.

Future Roadmap

The forum plans to launch additional state chapters, forge new international partnerships, and organise industry‑focused conclaves and policy dialogues to strengthen Bharat’s position as a global industrial hub. Backed by a founding team with expertise in enterprise technology, tractor manufacturing, steel, ferro alloys, construction equipment, FMCG and public policy, BGIF seeks to operate at the intersection of Swadeshi economic philosophy and global industrial competitiveness.
