Bitcoin Price and Market Overview

At 13:15 ET (17:15 GMT) on 11 July 2026, Bitcoin was trading at $64,197.6, representing a 0.60% increase for the day and having touched an intraday high of $64,489.8 earlier in the session. The price level kept the cryptocurrency above the $64,000 threshold following a recovery from a slide to $61,000 earlier in the week.

U.S. Regulatory Developments

A four‑year prohibition on a U.S. central bank digital currency (CBDC) became effective as part of a housing bill that automatically became law after President Donald Trump neither signed nor vetoed the legislation. The ban prevents the Federal Reserve from issuing a digital dollar through the end of 2030. The same legislative environment raised questions about the future of the proposed Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which may face further political delays if it reaches the White House later in the year.

Institutional Adoption

Circle Inc. (NYSE:CRCL), the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, obtained final approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to create a federally supervised national trust bank. The approval allows Circle to offer digital‑asset custody services under direct federal oversight and could eventually enable OCC‑supervised management of USDC reserves. This addition expands the growing list of crypto firms that have secured federal banking licences, indicating gradual integration of the sector into the traditional financial system.

Analyst Outlook

Market analysts continue to project Bitcoin price targets ranging from $300,000 to $500,000 by 2029, but historical data show that each four‑year halving cycle has produced progressively smaller multiples: the previous cycle peak was about 75 times the prior high in 2017, 3.5 times in 2021, and 1.8 times in 2025. Analysts attribute the potential for more sustainable returns to increasing institutional ownership, broader ETF adoption, and a deeper derivatives market, which together make Bitcoin a larger and more liquid asset.

Altcoin Performance

During the same trading day, major altcoins also posted gains. Ethereum rose 1.9% to $1,821.15, XRP increased 1.1% to $1.1130, Solana added 0.4%, and Cardano climbed 2.5%. Among meme tokens, Dogecoin advanced 1.7% and Shiba Inu (SHIB) rose 1.2%. The BNB/BTC pair outperformed the broader market, gaining 0.7% to $579.80.
